Forbes Connect on the CDP

The conversion layer on an 18M+ profile CDP. It turns anonymous readers into known profiles and puts them into lifecycle and sales motion.

Problem

A media site mostly knows its audience in aggregate. Pageviews tell you what got read, not who's in market. If the business was going to monetize identity instead of pageviews, something had to turn readers into known profiles and then do something with them.

What I built

Dialogues and segmentation

Forbes Connect launched as the conversion layer on a BlueConic CDP holding 18M+ profiles. Audiences are built on what people read and do on our own site, and on-site dialogues catch a reader at the right moment and ask for the right thing. Somebody three stories deep into a topic sees a different ask than a first-timer.

  1. The ask. One prompt, targeted by what the reader has read and done.
  2. The segment the page is built for.
  3. The audience numbers the page trades on.
The ask, the segment, and the numbers, pinned on a real page.

Progressive profiling

One or two fields per interaction instead of a twelve-field form nobody fills out. The profile fills in over a few visits, and nobody ever sees a long form.

Routing into nurture and sales

A new profile lands in Pardot for nurture or with a seller in Salesforce without anyone touching it. Around that sits the audience intelligence work: predictive LTV, third-party enrichment, and cross-product routing.

Outcome

18M+ profiles under behavioral segmentation, feeding the lifecycle portfolio and the CRM routing. That number is the scale of the CDP, and profiles aren't leads. What it buys you is that every downstream program starts warm.
